Kronborg Castle
In Helsingør, where the Øresund between Denmark and Sweden is at its narrowest, Kronborg lies facing the sound, surrounded by a huge fortress with bastions and cannon batteries. The castle has a dramatic and fascinating history, and is definitely worth a visit. See Frederik II's magnificent ballroom, enjoy the magnificent tapestries and greet Holger Danske in the sinister casemates deep below the castle.

Fredensborg Castle
Fredens Slot – Denmark’s Versailles. Fredensborg was named in memory of the end of the Great Northern War in 1722, when the castle was built. The castle complex was built in stages throughout the 18th century, designed by the best Danish architects of the time, JC Krieger, Nicolai Eigtved, L. de Thurah and CF Harsdorff. The castle and the castle garden form an architectural whole that is typical of the French Baroque style – which is why it is often called Denmark’s Versailles.

Frederiksborg Castle
The unique Renaissance building was built by Christian IV in the early 17th century, as an expression of the king's position as a powerful Northern European monarch. The lavish palace is rich in details and impressive craftsmanship, and a visit provides a great opportunity to experience the pomp and splendor of former times. Frederiksborg Castle houses the National History Museum. Through historical paintings, portraits, furniture and crafts from different periods, the museum tells 500 years of Danish history.

Esrum Monastery and Mill Farm
Esrum Monastery was founded by the Cistercian Order in 1151 and gained great importance as the spiritual center of the Cistercians in Denmark. Today, Esrum Monastery functions as an experience attraction with sensory exhibitions outside and inside and a rich program of events, family activities, food experiences, etc. Annual Medieval Days around St. Hans with medieval market, clowns, monks and nuns, stalls, musicians and lots of medieval atmosphere. Other regular events are Christmas market, Beer Festival, Harvest Festival and school holiday activities.

Royal North Zealand National Park
The Royal North Zealand National Park is a Danish national park that was inaugurated on 29 May 2018. The national park includes some of the country's most species-diverse deciduous forests, including Gribskov, but also Esrum Sø and Arresø. With an area of approximately 26,250 ha, it is the second largest Danish national park. Get your legs moving in the fresh air in the Royal North Zealand National Park. We have compiled a list of good hiking spots and cycling routes that we recommend for those who want to enjoy nature or burn off the calories.

Louisiana Museum of Modern Art
Louisiana is located on the coast of North Zealand in a large old park with a view across the Sound towards the Swedish coast. Louisiana's collection of modern art has an international perspective and format and contains all genres - with a main emphasis on painting and sculpture. Every year, Louisiana presents six to eight major exhibitions of modern and contemporary art. These present both classics of modern art and new international artists. In connection with the exhibitions, the museum publishes catalogues either in the form of Louisiana Revue or as special catalogues.

The cities in North Zealand
There are lots of lovely places in North Zealand. North Zealand offers cozy harbor towns, full of authenticity, larger cities with beautiful shops, all spiced with exciting attractions and experiences. Each with its own interesting history. Visit the towns along the water and hear about small fishing villages. Or go inland and see villages with stories about agriculture.

You don’t have to be interested in history to enjoy the North Zealand of the Kings. There are countless good ways to be active and explore nature at the same time. North Zealand on horseback
Whether you are on summer vacation or just here for a few days, you can experience wonderful horseback riding in the fantastic North Zealand of the Kings – Gribskov, Tisvilde Hegn, Asserbo Hegn, Søborg Lake, the Parforceruten, beach areas – several hundred kilometers of riding trails… In North Zealand it is possible to ride in very different natural areas. In several places there is direct access from one area to the other. The majority of the forests in North Zealand are state-owned. It is therefore possible to ride in the forests and it is completely free. In several places you can spend the night with your horse, or rent horses and participate in guided tours with or without overnight stays.
Beautiful Danish beaches
The Danish water is clean – and the beaches are kept clean and tidy. An incredible number of beaches are awarded a blue flag every year, which symbolises that the beach has been checked for both water quality and beach environment. It is the Danish “Outdoor Council” that constantly checks whether the quality is in order. Smidstrup Beach

Dronningmølle Beach

Hornbaek Beach
The largest and most visited beach on the north coast. Fine sand and good water quality, protective dunes in the background and safe bathing conditions for both children and adults. There are 2 lifeguard posts on the beach area from mid-June to mid-August 10 am-6 pm. Disabled facilities: Parking space. Paved path from the parking space to the beach edge. Liseleje Beach
The beach in Liseleje spreads its wings of sand and is incredibly child-friendly. There is a lifeguard on the beach during the summer. Near the beach there is a large parking lot as well as an ice cream parlor and cafes as well as an activity area for smaller children and mini golf. Distance 24.1 km from the Holiday Park.
